(August 3, 2021) Arvada, CO – Today the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with an action team of education, business and non-profit partners, announced the release of a Work-Based Learning Toolkit to help guide businesses through the terminology, data, roles, benefits and action steps of work-based learning (WBL).
Working daily with local businesses of all sizes, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce is well-aware of changes in the labor market as they happen. We know from meetings and the supporting data that a talent shortage exists – we’re still missing 4.3 million workers nationwide – and we wanted to know why. So we started asking questions.
As local businesses continue to experience staffing challenges, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce has launched the Arvada Career Hub to connect local job opportunities with local people. This digital resource is available to all businesses and non-profits that serve the Arvada community, making it the largest, most inclusive job board in the city.

The Arvada Chamber is working to understand how we support the immense impact that COVID-19 has had on student support and childcare resources. We have developed the below survey for our local businesses to offer feedback on how they are thinking about this challenge that we are concerned will lead to additional people becoming unemployed and more missed work. We are committed to developing community-wide solutions to remedy this and your feedback is a critical piece of this work.
The economic downturn associated with COVID-19 has put significant strain on both employers and employees. To help with this situation, the Arvada Resiliency Taskforce has collected an abundance of resources for those who have been forced to lay off staff as well as assistance for those employees that have lost their jobs.
The Arvada Chamber of Commerce recognizes that many companies are having to make temporary/permanent decisions on their workforce. These are incredibly difficult decisions. One of the new functions we are taking on through Arvada Works is to understand these changing times and connect resources appropriately.

On May 23, 2019, members of the Arvada Works KAPS Council participated in a Cradle to Career Simulator to gain a deeper understanding of the critical transition points in the career journey of youth. The workshop was hosted by the Adams County Youth Initiative (ACYI), which works to mobilize and support a collective partnership of stakeholders focused on improving educational outcomes in the community.
On Friday, April 26, the Arvada Chamber and Jefferson County Public Schools put a bow on an exciting inaugural Career Exploration Week as part of the Arvada Works program. Over 100 local employers connected with over 750 area students to provide industry exposure and career pathway opportunities.
