On May 23, 2019, members of the Arvada Works KAPS Council participated in a Cradle to Career Simulator to gain a deeper understanding of the critical transition points in the career journey of youth. The workshop was hosted by the Adams County Youth Initiative (ACYI), which works to mobilize and support a collective partnership of stakeholders focused on improving educational outcomes in the community.

On Friday, May 17th, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce hosted a Community Impact Breakfast to discuss “Our Impression on the Session.” A panel including Scott Chase of Politicalworks, Senator Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado, State Representative Tracy Kraft-Tharp, Senator Brittany Pettersen, State Representative Monica Duran, and Senator Tammy Story provided an overview of the 2019 legislative session. “This was one of the most significant sessions in recent memory – especially for the business community,” said Scott Chase in his keynote overview. In the 2019 session, 598 bills were introduced, carrying major weight in matters related to business, employment and education.
On May 7, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce hosted the Arvada Works seminar “How to Host Work-Based Learning Experiences at Your Business.” C. J. Juleff, M.A., from the Jefferson County Workforce Center, led a discussion on best practices for hosting mentoring, internships and job shadowing at a place of business.
