Community Builders Spotlight: Ivy Munyon, Schomburg Insurance Agency

July 29, 2026

At the Greater Arvada Chamber, we know when we build bridges, businesses grow stronger, communities become more resilient, and the local economy works better for everyone. This month, the Inclusion & Belonging KAPS Council is proud to spotlight Ivy Munyon, Commercial Account Manager at Schomburg Insurance Agency, whose passion for connection and service is helping create a more welcoming and inclusive Arvada.

Schomburg Insurance Agency is a full-service insurance brokerage serving both personal and commercial clients with education, guidance, and personalized service. Beyond helping individuals and businesses navigate insurance with confidence, the team is deeply committed to supporting the community through volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships, and local engagement. Through Ivy’s leadership and involvement, that commitment extends beyond the workplace and into building meaningful connections across the community.

Building Community Through Everyday Action

For Ivy, community isn’t built through one grand gesture, it’s created through the everyday choices that bring people together.

That can mean showing up for a neighbor in need, supporting local businesses, choosing sustainable ways to get around, or simply creating spaces where people feel welcomed and valued. Earlier this year, Ivy launched a networking collective for young female and female-presenting professionals, creating a place where members can build authentic relationships while partnering with local nonprofits through advocacy and volunteer opportunities.

She is also proud of the progress the Greater Arvada Chamber’s Inclusion & Belonging KAPS Council has made in advancing conversations around belonging and creating a more inclusive business community. Most recently, Ivy was appointed by Mayor Lauren Simpson to serve on Arvada’s Community Advisory Group, helping shape a shared vision for the city’s future.

“This is an honor that tells me the work is resonating,” Ivy said, “but also that there’s so much more to do. In many ways, it feels like I’m just getting started.”

These experiences reflect Ivy’s belief that lasting community is built through consistent action, intentional relationships, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate.

Building a Community Where Everyone Matters

What motivates Ivy is a desire to ensure every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

“There are many individuals and groups in our society who are underserved,” Ivy shared. “A big part of community is showing up for them, especially those who feel unseen or left behind.”

Her vision is a community where people genuinely care for one another and recognize that every individual has a role to play in making Arvada stronger. If Ivy had a magic wand, she would encourage one simple but powerful change.

“I wish we’d all have a lot more empathy for one another.”

For Ivy, community building isn’t about doing everything, it’s about each person taking small, intentional steps to care for their neighbors and create spaces where everyone belongs.

“When people show up for one another, create opportunities to connect, and lead with empathy, we build the kind of community where everyone has the chance to thrive.”
