June 16, 2025. Arvada, CO — The Greater Arvada Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that its Board of Directors has approved to support and contribute to the Arvada Police Honor Garden, a permanent tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of Arvada’s law enforcement officers.
The Arvada Police Honor Garden will be located in Memorial Park, across from City Hall and the Arvada Police Headquarters. This underutilized space will be transformed into a place of honor, remembrance, and community connection. The Garden will memorialize the four Arvada officers who have given their lives in the line of duty over the department’s 121-year history: Dillon Vakoff (2022), Gordon Beesley (2021), W. Michael Northey (1979), and Robert Beghtol (1961).
Spearheaded by the Arvada Police Foundation, the project aims to create a dynamic and interactive space that not only honors fallen officers but also symbolizes the past, present, and future of police service in Arvada. A central feature, the Circle of Honor, will serve as a lasting message to current and future generations of officers that their service is valued and supported by the community they protect.
The Chamber’s support for this effort is rooted in its strong partnership with the Arvada Police Department, which includes playing a critical role with the Chamber on the Arvada Resiliency Taskforce. This taskforce unites local leaders and organizations to tackle key community challenges and create resources like the 2024 Crime and Safety Toolkit. The Chamber recognizes that a safe, stable environment is essential for businesses to thrive and this Honor Garden serves as a visible reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold public safety.
