Insurance and Acupuncture, by Calm Spirit Acupuncture and Massage

April 26, 2016 by Heath Rost 3 Comments

We have many patients that have great insurance coverage through their employers. Companies like Xcel Energy, Miller-Coors, Federal employees, Google and other leading companies include acupuncture in their coverage and encourage their employees to get treatment.  They understand that acupuncture is a great compliment to western-traditional medicine and can help their employees miss less work because they have less pain, less stress, improved immunity, and better overall health. They also realize acupuncture is affordable in comparison to many medications, surgeries and other types of medicine.

  • Some individuals and companies have added acupuncture coverage after finding out their plan would only cost a bit more to improve it. If your employer does not offer acupuncture coverage on their insurance plan, let them know we are happy to come talk to them about the benefits of adding it, or alternative insurance plans they might want to check out. We are in-network with United Healthcare, Kaiser, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and others and have found that they offer great coverage. There are many companies that offer different plans and finding the ones that cover acupuncture can take a bit of research.
  • You can find out if your current plan includes acupuncture benefits by calling the member phone number or customer service phone number on the back of your card. Many people are surprised what they find out!
  • Also, many of our insurance covered patients wait until the last month or so to use up the rest of their benefits for the year. This is a reminder that it might be time to work on immunity, cold sinus, allergies, or pain management before the very end of the year!
