Paws ‘n’ Play is a unique, award-winning store in Olde Town Arvada that specializes in natural foods, treats, supplements, toys and gifts for your dog or cat. Paws ‘n’ Play’s belief is that feeding good quality food makes for a healthy and happy pet, which in turn makes a much happier person. And because the shop is small, they focus on the individual needs of its customers (whether they have two legs or four).
Paws ‘n’ Play first opened its doors in February, 2003 at a location on Ralston Road in Olde Town Arvada. Originally (and ambitiously) intended to be a combination retail store, rescue hub, educational facility and hangout for pets and people, it shifted its focus to specializing in healthy, natural foods, treats and supplements. The store then boldly moved into its current location on Grandview Avenue in Olde Town in 2005.
Fast-forward 15 years and Paws ‘n’ Play is still a staple for health-conscious, pet-loving Arvadans. The store was just voted “Best Pet Supply” for the fourth year in a row by Colorado Community Media. Arvada Chamber: When did you start Paws N Play?
Bob Corman: I bought Paws ‘n‘ Play four years ago with the goal of being Arvada’s best pet supply store.
Why did you start a pet store and why Arvada?
My family lived in Arvada and my mom shopped at the original Paws ‘n’ Play when it was on Ralston Road…feels like coming home again!
What have you learned about starting a store in Arvada and/or Olde Town in particular?
It’s definitely a community of store owners committed to making Olde Town thrive.
What sets you apart as a pet supplies store?
We only carry natural products and premium foods free of preservatives, by-products, corn, glutens and other harmful ingredients.
