Colorado Inclusive Economy (CIE) has found that when businesses invest in their people and operations, they unlock stronger productivity, innovation, and long-term growth. To support this mission, CIE developed a new resource designed specifically for small and mid-size employers: the Small/Mid-Size Business Workforce Playbook.
This practical playbook shares proven actions that business owners and leadership teams can take to better understand how work gets done in their organizations and identify opportunities to improve it. Developed through interviews with entrepreneurs, business leaders, and employees, the guide highlights real strategies that companies have used to strengthen their teams, improve workplace culture, and accelerate business performance.
The Greater Arvada Chamber is proud to partner with Colorado Inclusive Economy to create tools like this and foster meaningful connections that support strong businesses and thriving workplaces.
What’s Inside the Playbook
Inside the playbook, employers will find actionable ideas across several key areas, including:
- Job shadowing, employee development, and training
- Continuous improvement strategies and team meetings
- Profit sharing and benefits optimization
- Converting contractors to employees where appropriate
- Essential benefits and employee care solutions
- Measuring and improving employee well-being
Each recommendation includes a simple framework outlining the cost and effort involved, helping leaders prioritize strategies that make the most sense for their business today while building toward long-term growth.
Most importantly, this playbook is built on real experiences. Many of the strategies featured have already been implemented by businesses that are willing to share what they’ve learned. Through Colorado Inclusive Economy, employers can also be connected directly with peers who have successfully used these approaches.
