1. Get Real-Time Emergency Alerts When Minutes Matter
Only 13.5% of Arvada residents currently receive emergency alerts (June 2026). Help us reach 50% and strengthen community safety together.
LookoutAlert is a free Jefferson County service that allows residents and businesses to receive customized emergency notifications by text message, email, or voice message.
Through LookoutAlert, Arvada’s emergency responders can send official, real-time alerts about severe weather, fires, evacuations, road closures, and other urgent situations—helping you take potentially life-saving actions to protect yourself, your family, employees, and customers.

2. Receive Early Warnings About Power Shutoffs
During extreme or critical wildfire risk conditions, or if Xcel Energy is working near active wildfires, Xcel may need to temporarily turn off electric service to customers in targeted areas. This is a risk reduction strategy known as a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
Xcel Energy customers can stay informed via text, phone and email when wildfire risk is high and a PSPS event is possible.

3. Conserve Water Together During Drought Conditions
The City of Arvada has declared Stage 1 drought conditions, and mandatory water restrictions are now in effect to help reduce overall water use by approximately 20%. These restrictions align with guidance from Denver Water and may change as conditions evolve.
Outdoor watering rules
- Lawn watering is limited to two assigned days per week
- No watering between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM
- Limit sprinkler run times to 5 minutes per cycle (15 minutes max per zone)

Single-family homes
- Even-numbered addresses: Sunday and Thursday
- Odd-numbered addresses: Wednesday and Saturday
Multifamily and commercial properties
- Tuesday and Friday
Guidance for businesses and facilities
- Restaurants serve water upon request only
- Lodging facilities limit sheet changes to upon request or for health and safety reasons
- Fleet vehicle washing limited to once per week
- Commercial car washes must follow water-efficiency best practices
- Commercial power washing allowed only when essential to operations
- Outdoor fountains that spray water into the air are discouraged
