Changes in W-2 Reporting Requirements by Stephanie Heineman, Staffscapes

January 06, 2017

The IRS recently made some changes to the reporting requirements of W-2’s that employers have to file with the IRS. If you use a book keeper or do their own payroll using QuickBooks or a similar system you may want to inform them of these changes as they only have to the end of the month to complete them.

Previously employers were given until the end of February if they were to file paper W-2’s and until March if they were filing electronic W-2’s….the times have changed and the date has changed. Employers are now expected to file by January 31st regardless of how they decide to file.
