Benny Blanco’s Pizza (10050 Ralston Road, Unit B) will celebrate one year in Arvada in June and 25 years in business total. Last year, co-owners Holly and Mike Martinez moved the New York-sytle pizzaria from Denver to to return to Holly’s hometown of Arvada. The shop feature’s Holly’s own artistic flair of graffiti art and murals and its giant pizza slices have been a neighborhood favorite since it took over in the former Goombas location.
How has Arvada welcomed you and made you feel like you belong in this community?
Mike: Our mission at Benny Blanco’s is to make great pizza, calzones, sammie’s, dinners, and delicious snacks and have our customers feel amazing in our shop. Arvada has made the difficult choice to relocate so worth it! We feel very grateful to be able to share our food with a new generation and still see familiar faces of everyone who’s supported us over all these years.
There’s a lot of pizza options in this area. How does Benny Blancos set itself apart?
Mike: Benny Blanco’s pride ourselves on fresh ingredients, homemade dough, sauces and fresh cut veggies daily. We have a small tight knit staff who cares for each other like family and has fun cooking together. The vibe at the shop reflects our eclectic culture and taste.
What does “belonging” mean to you, and how can organizations create that for their people or the broader community?
Holly: I think love, understanding, and kindness in community
