Tell us more about you and/or your business:
We are changing the way retirement is done in this country. Too many seniors and their families are living at a standard that is below where they would like to be, all in the name of preserving the inheritance for their children. How exciting it is for us when they learn that they can have their cake and eat it, too! That is, they can leave their home to their family when they pass AND they can ensure a style of living that is fitting for their retirement years.
What keeps you motivated?
My parents were my first inspiration for the work we do with seniors. We had the privilege of caring for them in our home. They raised me to believe that I have the talent and resources to be of value to others, but that became even more meaningful when we brought them home to live with us in their final years. Now I get to do the same for other families. What could be better than that?!
What do you enjoy most about your work?:
Empowering people! I just love when I explain a Reverse Mortgage to someone and they have that lightbulb moment when everything they thought they knew was not at all how it really works. When someone finally discovers that they not only keep their house, and their family still inherits at the end, and they can have the buffer asset a Reverse Mortgage provides, it is the best win/win I can imagine.
What is one thing you would like the Arvada Chamber community to know about you?:
I just love working with seniors and their families. To me, a family’s home is the most sacred place on earth. Knowing that I can use my giftedness with math to help families unlock this asset and provide legacy and security for their loved ones is so, so rewarding.
What are you excited about this year?:
That it is the year of workshops! Training for our team and our business partners, education for our team and our clients and partners, coaching, all things learning for everyone!
Describe your ideal business power partner, someone you can rely on to help you both be successful.:
I want to work with Senior service providers. Those that are coming in contact with seniors on a regular basis and want to help them access a great quality of life. Financial advisors and attorneys are some of the most prominent.
What is a piece of career advice that has served you well?:
Success leaves footprints. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel, just follow the footsteps of others that have been success. And leave a trail for the next one behind you.
Share any information about current trends or changes in your industry would help small businesses or consumers.:
For far too long, too many homeowners have believed the misconception that the object of the game is to pay off one’s house. But the academics and experts show over and over that the best strategy is to focus on cash flow and longevity. People are finally starting to wake up and realize that Reverse Mortgage is a very valuable tool, and one that helps them ensure that they have secured their own future and secured their inheritance for their family after they are gone. It’s time we tell the truth about Reverse Mortgages and that concept is beginning to find its way to the mainstream. To learn more, they only need to come to our Second Saturday workshop – the Second Saturday of every month at 10:00 am at our office. They can also participate remotely via Zoom.
